Awapuni Community Gardens offer land access for growing food and the opportunity to share knowledge and resources. The gardens work on an allotment-style where individuals (usually families) take ‘ownership’ of a bed to grow food for themselves. There are also shared community beds at the gardens. There are currently 20 community plots and 86 whānau plots..

In the heart of the Crewe Crescent community we offer an after school programme for local primary aged kids. The sessions help the children develop confidence and relationships while having fun; playing games and sharing great kai. The homework programme is run on Wednesdays and partnerships have been formed with local schools to run other communities initiatives together..

Kids Club is a free school holiday programme for primary aged kids in years 1-6.  Packed with activities for learning new skills, having fun together and sharing kai.  The leaders have just as much fun as the kids.  We have a crew of young adults who are mentors and volunteer to be Kids Club Leaders.

The annual free Community Christmas Party is our main event each year. A huge welcoming street party that brings our community together attracting around 1500-2000 people each year. The event has many free fun activities and loads of great kai. It is open to everyone in the community to attend.

The Karu Kanakana programme teaches through storytelling, games, waiata and fun for all of the whānau. Karu Kanakana translates as ‘The Sparkle in their Eyes’ which relates to the sparkle you see in children's eyes when they learn a new concept or word. A bilingual Te Reo/English session for preschoolers and their kaitiaki (caregivers). We partner with our community libraries, and are currently offering sessions in 3 libraries, including Awapuni, Te Patikitiki and Roslyn, and are looking to extend into all 4 community libraries.
